Warship Building in Portsmouth 1906 and 2006

To celebrate the Centenary of HMS Dreadnought, this Naval Academy Seminar compares her build with the state-of-the-art techniques used today by VT Shipbuilding

Programme

10.00am Opportunity to view Museum’s Dreadnought Centenary Exhibition

11.00 am  Coffee on arrival in Princess Royal Gallery

11.30 am Lecture

Building the First Dreadnought

Afternoon        

Guided tour of VT Shipbuilding’s Portsmouth facility, where HMS Clyde, the new Falkland Islands patrol ship and the first major warship to be built in Portsmouth since 1967, will be ready for launch and sections of the new Type 45 Destroyers are being constructed.  Transport will be provided from the Museum.

Approx 3.30pm  Finish

Cost: £10 (no concessions) including coffee/tea on arrival and 10% discount in Museum shop. 

A sandwich lunch may be ordered for an extra £5.
