Pinnace Operations

199 was re-commissioned as a working vessel in 2001 after a period of 10 years as a static display in Portsmouth Dockyard making her first public appearance in steam at the International Festival of the Sea in Portsmouth in August 2001.

She has since been on show at the Yarmouth Old Gaffers Regatta, the Chichester Harbour Workboat Rally at Itchenor, and visited Explosion Museum at Priddy’s Hard and the Classic Boat Museum at Newport IOW. She has also taken part in a Military Powerboat Rally at Gunwharf Marina.

Additionally, she has made several trips around Portsmouth Harbour with a number of interested maritime groups whose members wanted to experience steam propulsion at first hand.

For further details of the operational programme, see our current news pages or contact us at richard.noyce@royalnavalmuseum.org

*Please note that the Boats team can only respond to questions about the Pinnace and the Gig and how you can help them to preserve and display them. They are not able to answer any other enquiries. All other enquiries should be directed to the Museum staff at the Historical/Collections contact address.
