Royal Naval MuseumFormer First Sea Lord, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Julian Oswald started by discussing how well or badly we look after a key element of our Maritime Heritage - our Historic Ships. (He is Chairman of the National Historic Ships Committee and of the Maritime Trust). He then went on to look at the state of the UK Merchant Fleet today, the new Tonnage Tax regime and associated training requirements and reviewed the future prospects for the Red Ensign Fleet, (he is a Director of James Fisher and Sons - a Barrow-in-Furness based shipping company).
