There is loads to enjoy for the whole family at the National Museum of the Royal Navy. Find out more by exploring these pages.
Families with young children now have a brand new space just for them!
The new space which can be found in the museums Victory gallery encourages under 5s to explore, play, imagine and have fun! There are a range of toys, books, puppets and costume as well as an activity cart full of creative ideas and ways to find out more about life at sea.
The room is open during normal museum hours but is not staffed so parents and carers are responsible for their children at all times.
Thanks to a development grant from the regional Museum Development Officers of MLA South East visitors will now have the opportunity to explore the dockyard in a brand new way…all they need is an NMRN backpack!
Aimed at families with children under 16, the backpack contains an interactive, self-guided trail and a guide for grown-up’s, fun learning activities and all the materials they need to be creative. With three themes to choose from - Dockyard Detectives, Working Hard at the Dockyard and Dockyard Code Crackers - you can come back and try a different one every time, at absolutely no charge!
The backpacks are available all year round from the Victory Learning Centre. For further information about the backpack scheme please contact the Learning Team at the Museum.
