Skype brings HMS Victory to Australia!
There was an exciting first for the museum this June as we ran a special lesson for Australian school children all about HMS Victory, the Georgian Navy and the First Fleet.
The children from Brisbane Grammar School were able to view the Great Cabin, ask questions about the ship and study documents from the museum's collection.
It was wonderful to be able to share the fascinating history of Nelson's ship with the enthusiastic and very knowledgable students on the other side of the world!
We are interested in trialling other Skype lessons for students in Britain who are learning about the Royal Navy but who live too far away to visit us!
If you think you would be interested please get in touch with the Learning Officer on 023 9272 7584.
Discovery visits to the museums galleries are now FREE!
This means you can explore our fascinating collections and take part in an interactive and engaging workshop for just £40 per class!
From foundation stage to key stage 4 our schools programme offers fun, hands on learning opportunities, which make the most of the Museum’s excellent collection.
The programme includes everything from art workshops, storytelling, hands on activity sessions and role-play through to poetry, talks and study days.
Highlights include:
