Welcome to the database of the Royal Naval Museum’s collections.
Please use the database to search for catalogue descriptions of over 12,000 manuscripts items held at the Museum.
The database currently includes two distinct collections, each of which is made available to researchers in the Library reading room. For information on how to view these items, see our Access page or contact us for any enquiries you may have about an item.
The database includes over 10,000 catalogue records for all accessions added to the Museum’s archive since 1952. All have at least a collection level record, and the majority have been catalogued to item level. More detail is added regularly.
The database includes records for 1,800 manuscripts in the Admiralty Library collection. It is complete for all bound volumes and collections of personal papers, and approximately half of the loose chart collection. More records are added regularly as the charts are catalogued.
The Museum’s oral history, art, photographic and artefact collections will be added to the database between 2006 and 2008.
