Despite repeated warnings from the Royal Navy, local Chiefs continued slave trading activities. During February 1845 Commodore W Jones ordered a series of attacks on their slaving establishments.

Here, the crews of HMSs Penelope, Larne and Growler burn the towns of Tindes, Tailles and Minah owned by the Rogers Family.
