Memorial dedicated to Commander WGB Estcourt

Memorial plaque dedicated to Walter Grimstone Bucknall Estcourt, Commander of HM steam sloop Eclair. 

Estcourt and 65 other Officers and men died in only two months anti-slavery duty on the passage from Bonna Vista to Madeira, a prominent slave trading route.  Estcourt was only 38 years old when he died.
