How to find us

The Royal Naval Museum is located within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, a five-minute walk (approximately 130 metres) from the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard Visitor centre. 

The entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is through Victory Gate at the corner of Queen Street and the Hard.

Getting to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Road

The Historic Dockyard is less than 5 miles from Junction 12 of the M27.  Follow the brown Historic Waterfront signs from the M275 into Portsmouth.

The postcode for satellite navigation devices is PO1 3LA

Car parking

The Historic Dockyard Car Park has 17 disabled parking spaces and 278 parking spaces.  

The entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is located approximately 100 metres from the Car Park.

Bus & coach

Many local, regional and national bus and coach services stop at the Hard Interchange, located next to the entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Rail

Portsmouth Harbour station is a five minute walk (130 metres) from the entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Ferry

There are ferries from Gosport and the Isle of Wight to Portsmouth Harbour Hard exchange, located approximately 100 metres from the entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Bicycles

Due to security restrictions, visitors are unable to leave bicycles unattended on the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard site.

Bike racks are available just outside Victory gate, alongside the Hard.

Museum galleries are located within three buildings alongside Victory Arena, opposite HMS Victory.
