Only a small part of the Museum’s collections can be displayed in our public galleries at any one time.  Items which are not currently on display, and held in Reserve Collections, can be viewed with a member of the curatorial staff by appointment.  Details of the Museum’s library and manuscript collections can be found on our Research pages.

The Museum also wants to make these collections available in a number of other ways.

The regular Curator’s Choice features an in-depth look at a member of staff’s personal favourite.

Our themed Archive Exhibitions provide a small taste on-line of what we have in our stores on a subject.

Recent Acquisitions gives a list of highlights of new additions to the collections.

The Museums major new Sea Your History project to digitise 15,000 items from 20th century collections will go live later this year.

Keep an eye on the Forthcoming Events page for details of our next Behind the Scenes tours of the collection stores
